Fall Extravaganza sees active opening night

Lee County Speedway's Fall Extravaganza started a day late due to the rain, but it was worth the wait as those in attendance put on a highly competitive show.
Nathan Wood started fifth and headed to the point in the stock car main event, but ninth-starting Jason Cook didn't let him get too far away and was soon battling for the lead. These two went back-and-forth with Cook eventually holding on for the win.
The modifieds followed suit and it was Josh Foster and Wyatt Lantz swapping the point several times in their feature. In the closing laps, a lapped car sent Foster diving into the infield on the backstretch. Lantz powered on to a big lead and Foster dropped to third. A late caution gave Foster a second chance and he took full advantage, gaining back second and passing Lantz for the win.
Adam Gates had a convincing win in the sportcompacts, while Cayden Carter did the same in sportmods.
Two classes of hobby stocks wound up the action for the night with Dustin Griffiths winning in IMCA/9:1 hobby stocks, and Dan Wenig topping the outlaw hobby stocks after Brian Hoener and Dane Fenton took each other out while racing for the lead in that one.
All of the racing action was complete by 10 p.m. and hopefully some of you will make your way to the Lee County Fairgrounds today as as round two for the Fall Extravaganza takes to the track at 3:30 this afternoon.
